My mission is to help you rejuvenate your health through optimal nutrition, blood sugar regulation, and digestive support.
As a child, I struggled to gain weight and was often sick. I was hospitalized for dehydration several times, was severely underweight, and suffered low muscle tone and intense nosebleeds. My doctors thought it was a lactose intolerance and recommended soy milk instead of cow’s milk. I was always hungry, had low energy, and experienced severe digestive pain.
In high school, my first summer job was at J.M. Pike Farm in Sagaponak, NY working both in the fields and at the roadside stand. This job began my passion of food and farming.
I studied art education and photography at UMass, Amherst, then studied fine furniture making in Easthampton, MA. After college, I spent a couple of years in advertising then was the Marketing Manager for WBUR (Boston’s NPR station). In my mid-20’s, my weak digestion became a major issue in my life. My symptoms intensified and I knew there was a major problem going on.
That’s when a doctor discovered I had Celiac Disease, which is an auto-immune reaction to wheat gluten. Two weeks on a gluten free diet changed my life. My symptoms were gone and after this, I decided to learn more about food and food issues. I spent several years in marketing for natural foods companies and five years at Whole Foods Market before joining my husband at Green Meadows Farm, running the store and overseeing events at the farm.
Through customers at the farm, I learned about nutrient-dense foods and traditional diets. My desire to make sure my children received optimum nutrition motivated me to attend the Weston A. Price conference in the fall of 2008. This is when it all started making sense to me, and I felt that I needed to spread my newly discovered information about food to everyone else I knew.
In the fall of 2009, I enrolled with the Nutritional Therapy Association and now hold a certification in Nutritional Therapy. During my education, I learned how to balance my blood sugar and further reduce irritating foods. My food cravings and shaky feeling and headaches between meals disappeared. My athletic performance dramatically improved. I no longer felt like a slave to my next snack or meal. My food addictions were gone!
My goal is to help people achieve better health through biologically appropriate foods. By supporting digestion and eliminating foods that cause intestinal irritation and metabolic derangement, you can balance your weight and moods, and reduce your chances of developing modern diseases like type 11 diabetes and cancer.
My husband Andrew and I have two healthy children (featured on the homepage), Anson and Phoebe. We run Clark Farm in Carlisle, Massachusetts, just west of Boston where we run a CSA, raise livestock and educate kids and adults about sustainable agriculture. When I’m not working at the farm, working out at crossfit, or seeing nutrition clients, I enjoy reading about food culture, the science of metabolism, and traveling (especially visiting exotic farmers’ markets!) Today, I’ve never felt happier or stronger, and I am so excited to spread the word about nutrient dense, sustainable nutrition to my clients.
